    Withnail and I

    £125.00

“You are invited to spend an hilarious weekend in the English countryside”

With its iconic Ralph Steadman artwork an original 1987 UK quad film poster for Bruce Robinson’s massive cult hit “Withnail and I” is one of the scarcest and most sought after British film posters of the 80’s with prices (if you can find one) into four figures. Thank fully for the 10th Anniversary re-release in 1997 Handmade Films produced a ‘new’ poster for this remastered cult classic, which although rare (again due to limited cinematic releases) are available. Steadman’s design is retained for the title with gilt framed colour photograph of the titular “Withnail and I” (Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann) off setting a yellow linoleum floor full of fag ends, beans and rubbish…Very in-keeping with the overall atmosphere of squalor that pervades the film. Offered here is an exceptional unrestored country of origin British UK quad movie poster from 1997 re-release for one of the most celebrated British film’s of recent times. Originally rolled (as issued) this presents and displays superbly and represents a much more affordable alternative for a truly classic cult British movie which respected critic and entertainer Jonathan Ross described as…“One of the funniest British films ever made”.

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars

    £175.00

“What do you know about make-up? You’re Just a Girl.”

Undoubtedly, one of the great concert footage films; David Bowie in “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars” . The historic farewell performance of the king of glam rock; directed by D.A. Pennebaker and featuring the award winning British musician David Bowie under his ‘Ziggy’ persona with his group The Spiders from Mars – Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey – performing at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 3rd July 1973. This original first year of release (1973) country of British one sheet film poster is a truly great find & presented in near perfect unrestored condition. With the added bonus of being rolled this presents superbly with great close up of Bowie in Ziggy persona and also performing all offset against a silver background, it looks stunning and really does justice to the iconic musician…Incredibly scarce with a very low print run this really is an exciting item of rock / movie collectible from one of the most influential icons of modern pop culture…David Bowie.

Trivia: RCA requested that many references to, mostly, death and suicide in Bowie’s lyrics should be bleeped. Pennebaker gave way. But he only bleeped the mono-sound negative, while the stereo film print and soundtrack remained non-bleeped.
